Audrey Steiner (Hanover, NH)

Picture
Audrey Steiner is a rising college junior from Hanover, New Hampshire. She graduated from Hanover High School summa cum laude in 2016 and studied piano with Lisa Amundsen and Elizabeth Borowsky. Currently, Audrey studies piano with John Blacklow at the University of Notre Dame, where she is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and Design. Music has given Audrey opportunities to meet wonderful people and travel to amazing places. While at Notre Dame, she has performed in masterclasses for pianists such as Ann Schein and Victor Rosenbaum. She has attended several summer music festivals and programs. She attended Interlochen Arts Camp in 2015 where she studied with Abigail Mace and was selected as an art gallery pianist. She participated twice in the Intermuse International Music Institute and Festival in Maryland, where she worked with Elizabeth Borowsky, Daniel Weiser, Michael Delfìn, and Brian Ganz. In 2017, she was a participant in the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, and performeded chamber music in Italy and Slovenia (one of the performances took place in a castle overlooking the Adriatic Sea! ). This summer, she will continue her musical education at Adamant Music School near Montpelier, Vermont.

Teaching Philosophy

I think everyone should learn music: the study of music is personally rewarding, serves as a healthy creative outlet, and improves brain plasticity. Additionally, it is universal and can connect people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Given that music has mental, emotional, and societal benefits, I feel both a desire and a sense of duty to teach piano to help others benefit from this experience. I hope to help students develop both technique and creative musical artistry. I want students to leave my lessons feeling excited and inspired not by me so much as by themselves and the music they are capable of creating.
